Course MICROTEACHING

Microteaching is a practice-oriented course designed to develop students’ fundamental knowledge, skills, and professional competencies in teaching English as a foreign language (EFL). The course provides students with opportunities to integrate theories of language teaching, instructional planning, classroom management, teaching strategies, learning media, assessment, and reflective practice through structured and progressively challenging teaching simulations. Throughout the course, students develop essential teaching skills, including opening and closing lessons, explaining learning materials, asking effective questions, providing reinforcement and feedback, using classroom language, managing classroom interaction, facilitating discussions, applying variations in teaching techniques, integrating learning media and digital technology, and conducting learning assessment. Teaching practices are conducted through a series of microteaching sessions representing different educational levels and contexts, including elementary school (SD), junior high school (SMP), senior high school (SMA), and vocational high school (SMK). These practices enable students to adapt English teaching approaches, materials, classroom activities, media, and assessment strategies to the characteristics and learning needs of different groups of learners. By the end of the course, students are required to produce instructional videos to be uploaded in YouTube as a part of the instructional project. These microteaching activities are also intended to promote SDGs 4 (Quality Education) and SDGs 5 (Gender Equality)
