Course Teaching English for Young Learner

Course Description

This course focuses on the basic principles of teaching English to young learners and their application in teaching and learning processes. It covers approaches, methods, lesson planning, learning materials development, classroom management, and assessment in Teaching English to Young Learners (TEYL). The course also integrates Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education), by promoting inclusive, equitable, and learner-centered English language teaching practices that respect diversity and support the development of young learners‘ knowledge, skills, values, and global awareness. All teaching-learning activities are conducted through lectures, classroom and small-group discussions, student presentations, teaching practices, peer feedback, and reflection.

Program Objectives (PO)

Mahasiswa mampu menjelaskan teori-teori dasar dan prinsip-prinsip pengajaran bahasa Inggris untuk anak usia sekolah dasar, termasuk perkembangan bahasa anak dan karakteristik pembelajaran bahasa di usia dini.
Mahasiswa mampu merancang rencana pembelajaran yang inovatif dan sesuai dengan kurikulum, kebutuhan, serta karakteristik anak SD dalam pembelajaran bahasa Inggris.

Mahasiswa mampu menerapkan strategi dan metode pembelajaran bahasa Inggris yang efektif untuk anak SD, termasuk penggunaan permainan, lagu, cerita, dan kegiatan interaktif lainnya.
Mahasiswa mampu melakukan evaluasi terhadap proses dan hasil pembelajaran bahasa Inggris di tingkat SD, serta memberikan umpan balik konstruktif untuk peningkatan pembelajaran.
