Applied Linguistics Course

Course Description Discussion of applied linguistics by utilizing concepts or technical aspects of the use of linguistics in practical activities, especially in the fields of language and literature learning, bilingualism, lexicography, translation, linguistics, vocabulary, discourse analysis as well as pragmatics and corpus linguistics through discussion activities , training, presentations, simulations, or even independent study to produce material summaries, papers, or scientific articles that are presented in discussion forums/seminars or published in journals.

The contents of the course include reorientation and redefinition of applied linguistics, the relationship between linguistics and current issues in language teaching and learning, language and usage, linguistic problem in translation, and attempts to bridge the gap between linguistics and literature. This course also provides the students with an opportunity to review critically articles related to applied linguistics, relating to theory of descriptive linguistics and systemic functional linguistics.
