Course Description
This course concentrates on preparing students for the listening of authentic materials. This course further develops students 19 listening comprehension and trains the use of critical thinking skills. Students will listen to interviews/reports from news, talk and entertainment programs 13 and engage in discussions by using critical thinking to analyze, synthesize and express opinions on the information presented in the programs.
Program Objectives (PO)
- Students will develop the ability to actively and attentively listen to a wide range of audio materials, including music, spoken word, and environmental sounds
- Students will learn to identify and analyze subtle nuances, elements, and details in audio recordings, such as instrumentation, timbre, dynamics, and spatial characteristics
- Students will be able to critically evaluate audio recordings, performances, and speeches, identifying strengths and weaknesses, and providing constructive feedback
- Students will be able to Develop an awareness of cultural sensitivity when interpreting and evaluating audio content from diverse backgrounds and perspectives
