Course Description
The English for Academic Purposes course is designed to equip students with essential skills in academic reading, research, and writing. This 4-credit course combines critical reading strategies with practical skills for producing high-quality research papers. Students will learn how to find suitable academic articles, critically analyze scholarly texts, and conduct literature reviews. Through a project-based approach, students will apply these skills to real-world research projects, culminating in the production of a well-structured academic paper. The course also covers citation, referencing, and academic writing conventions, ensuring that students are prepared to engage with academic literature and produce coherent, well-researched work.

- Analyze academic articles critically to gain an in-depth understanding of topics in English language learning, with the aid of digital databases and AI tools for efficient research and analysis.
- Develop a well-structured annotated bibliography based on a critical analysis of relevant and credible academic sources
- Understand the techniques of writing a review paper by analyzing the structure, arguments, and academic writing conventions used in academic articles
- Write a well-structured review paper, using appropriate citations, references, and logical arguments in accordance with academic writing conventions
