This course is designed to develop from basic to advanced reading and writing skills necessary for academic success. Students will engage in intensive reading practices that emphasize several skills such us identifying the author‘s purpose, scanning, identifying facts and opinions, reading fluently until summarizing a text. This skills include critical analysis, comprehension, and synthesis of complex texts across various genres. Meanwhile for writing assignments will focus on the development of clear. Start from deciding on a topic, developing ideas until supporting opinion. Students will learn writing an introduction, conclusion, presenting good points, engaging the reader and persuasive arguments, with particular attention to structure, style, and grammar.
The course is divided into two times meeting in a week sessions: one dedicated to rigorous reading exercises, where students will dissect and discuss selected readings, and the other focused on writing, where students will practice and refine their writing techniques through workshops and peer reviews. By the end of the course, students will be equipped with the skills to read and write at a high academic level, preparing them for upper-division coursework and professional communication.
