This course aims to equip students with the skills necessary for effective and ethical oral communication, preparing them for diverse professional and personal situations, including those related to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The course focuses on enhancing public speaking, debating, and discussion skills, with an emphasis on critical thinking, argumentation, and active listening. Students will learn to construct and deconstruct arguments, engage in meaningful dialogues, and present ideas clearly and persuasively. Teaching methods include lectures, interactive seminars, group discussions, debates, speech delivery, presentations, critical analyses of recorded speeches, and peer reviews. Formative assessments will be based on oral presentations, participation in debates and discussions, written assignments analyzing arguments and speeches, and reflective journals on personal communication experiences. Summative assessment will involve a group-based project, creating a campaign video related to an SDGs issue. By the end of the course, students will be able to think critically and communicate effectively in diverse oral formats.
